There are plenty of requests for money out there from lots of people. If you have clicked the link and read my story, you are asking yourself why you should care about one more website or one more person no one knows. Why should you pay for my trip to Vegas?
The reason is stories. You need stories of all kinds. Stories of hard work, struggle, fear, success, and triumph. That's what this is really about. I want to tell stories.
The best way I can do that is find the people and talk to the face to face. I need to see their eyes and feel the passion in their words as they explain their journey. This is not some higher journalistic endeavor. I am not trying to save the world or uncover a vast conspiracy.
I am seeking personal stories and ways you can connect with others who may share your views and passions. I will tell these stories through my own flawed lens, and hope with enough empathy and understanding that you will gain something new out of it.
When I reached out to Joel at Food Moves I was seeking understanding of his idea. We have connected, and now I am rooting for Joel as his idea gains traction. The same goes for the team at Evntr. I saw their idea and was intrigued. I reached out to them and asked to hear about their story.
Go to The LinkedIn Series for those stories.
Stories are why Hollywood makes sequel after sequel. We want to see what happens to Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man next. How can they possibly overcome all their flaws and overwhelming odds to save the world? AGAIN!
Why should you care? Because. . .stories. I would love to find the next Nick D'Aloisio or the next Jess Lee. That story will be born at Celebrate 2015. I want to tell it so we can all be start-up hipsters together. You can put on your best snobby, arrogant attitude and scoff at those who are late to the party when Evntr gets bought by Google Alphabet in their next reorganization.
